A day in the life: How MSM Wellness eliminated their IT burden with NextSTOP Global Exchange Partner JS Tech Group.

Imagine IT infrastructure so fragile, that a simple sneeze could take down the office. This was literally the case at MSM Wellness. A three-office medical group sprawled across Manhattan’s downtown, MSM suffered from serious IT infrastructure issues across hardware and software realms. As their main network center was located under their front reception desk, a literal sneeze did often cause a receptionist to kick a rat’s nest of cables, wreaking havoc on all-important patient information systems.

For years, the team at MSM was reluctant to change. They paid for IT services hourly, attempting to patch what was ultimately a sinking ship. Their EMR (electronics medical records) lived on multiple end-of-life servers prone to freezing, and data was often lost. Yet the concept of a complete overhaul was untenable. Where would the team work while computer systems were being reimagined? How would the firm afford the up-front cost?

A managed relationship

For MSM, it was slowly becoming clear that the road to IT independence was not one of fix-and-forget. Where firms provided estimates for new hardware and software piecemeal, one offering stood out: JS Tech’s comprehensive managed IT.

Unlike contractors who offered one-time installs with costly hourly support, JS Tech promised predictable outcomes from a predictable fee structure. MSM could consume support services as much as they wanted, within the scope of the contract, and be billed no extra. This long-term, managed relationship, is what sold the deal. MSM would not even have to make a considerable capital investment. The hardware and installation would be rolled into their monthly payment, and paid over time.

“We learned that IT without hidden fees is the way to go,” said David Bernstein, office manager. “The relationship we have with JS Tech creates regularity and transparency when it comes to IT service.”

After a thorough analysis by JS Tech, Bernstein contracted for physical infrastructure, wifi, internet, phones, and assistance related to his EMR. The JS Tech team got to work immediately at the firm’s convenience, recabling the office, installing internet from a new provider, migrating medical records to a cloud-based EMR, and making the intricate switchover to VoIP phones. The total outcome: one responsible firm (JS Tech) for every critical IT system, all IT systems thoughtfully integrated, and a virtual elimination of time spent on IT work.

“We rarely call JS Tech anymore for emergencies,” said Bernstein. “Instead, we focus on incremental tweaks to make things run even better.”

JS Tech monitors all systems 24-7 and preempts downtime and security breach by keeping everything up to date.

Zero IT burden

So how did the JS Tech team eliminate MSM’s IT burden? Using the same ground-up approach that NextSTOP preaches to its clients.

The process began with a thoughtful inventory of MSM’s physical and digital IT systems. Beyond the obvious cabling issues, the firm had never asked itself whether a move to a cloud-based EHR would be worthwhile. Given their constant expansion and multiple physical locations, JS Tech determined that a properly-managed EHR migration could bring greater cohesiveness and security to MSM and better record access to patients.

As a cloud product, the new EHR would be only as good as MSM’s data network. JS Tech rebuilt  the physical layer, wireless connectivity, and internet service provider relationship for foundational strong connectivity. This ground-up approach has continued to support the firm’s growth and low-lift IT environment.

JS Tech offers the same white glove IT services to businesses throughout the five boroughs – managed internet, wifi, phones, conferencing, cameras, access control, and storage. Many JS Tech clients are already engaged with an IT firm, and make the switch for a more responsive and all-encompassing solution.
